Our History

P.T. Union Confectionery, established in Medan, Indonesia, has helped pioneer Indonesia’s candy industry since 1955. In 1968, the present shareholders took over its management and embarked on a plan to modernize and revitalize the company.

 

Our Capabilities

Since 1968, we have diversified our product lines, adding a deposit candy line, toffee-making machines, bubble-gum and ball-gum machines, stick-and pellet-gum lines, and tablet-candy lines. Also installed were a glucose plant, rotogravure printing, and blow-moulding machines to produce plastic jars.

 

To increase manufacturing capacity and improve logistics, we relocated in 1991 to our present location in the Medan Industrial Estate, about midway between the city center and the main seaport Belawan-Deli. Today, in our 4.8 hectare compound, 900 workers produce up to 1200 tons of confectionery per month.

With 50 years of candy manufacturing experience, and our philosophy that “Quality is everybody’s business”, we are dedicated to the highest standards at every level of the manufacturing process and customer service. We are an ISO 9001:2000 (2003) certified company.

 

Our Homegrown Brands

Some of our leading brands are Long Bar bubble gum, Dinos-X and Supermax ball gum, Union hard and soft candy and Collin's Butternut hard candy, Coffee Plus and Hanimon deposited candy. We also make various brands for our contract manufacturing customers outside Indonesia.

 

Our International Experience

In 1980, the company began marketing internationally and developing products with our foreign clients. Today, our products can be found in South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, and also countries in Africa and the Middle East.
